Recipe: Vegan Apple Butter for a slow cooker...

Perfect recipe to use your slow cooker. This recipe will make your house smell like winter, and to be honest ... apples and cinnamon are a pefect combo.

Apple Butter is not based on butter, it's just super concentrated applesauce. It's cooked for more than eight hours and got a rich apple, caramel and cinnamon flavor. I love it on warm toast in the morning or in an apple pie!

Ingredients:

1,5 kg apples

150 g brown sugar

2 star anise

1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon of cloves

1/4 teaspoon of salt

1/2 lemon freshly pressed

Directions:

1. Peel, core and slice the apples and place the apples in a slow cooker. Add sugar, cinnamon, cloves, salt and lemon juice and mix well.

2. Cook in slow cooker on low for about eight hours until the "applesauce" is thickened and brown. Stir occasionally.

3. Uncover the the "applesauce" and continue uncovered cooking on low for about 60 to 90 minutes.

4. To puree the apple butter use a blender until mixture is smooth.

5. Fill the finished apple butter hot into sterile (glass) containers and cover them. You can enjoy your apple butter up to 6 month, depends on the containers you use.

Tip: You can freeze the apple butter just to make sure.
